A note from Kristin

TMB Families and Friends,

I hope that you are enjoying the ’new-again’ taste of freedom. It is so wonderful to see the office coming back to life after COVID-19 and telehealth. I won’t lie- I enjoyed the ‘quieter life’ at home for a while, but, gosh, I am so chuffed to be able to open our doors again and feel the energy of play groups, SAS groups and speech therapy sessions. Life at TMB is in full swing, and we’ve never been busier. We have lots of exciting projects in the works and can’t wait to tell you about them all. Here are a few highlights:

            • Keep an eye out for our new and improved website, with all our service offerings.
            • We will be running a very busy SAS group in Term 3, and have already started taking bookings for Term 4.
            • Our preschool group is back in Term 3 and we’re excited to say that our group are all getting ready for ‘big school’ now and will graduate to our ‘Mission Launchpad’ group focusing on school readiness. That means that we have spaces in our Mission Connect group for children starting school in 2022/23) – please spread the word!

Self-care is not selfish

As we emerge out of isolation fr0m COVID-19, it is so important to look after ourselves. Old responsibilities become new again, new routines become old, and we make a shift toward a different way of doing things. As the changes keep changing, and the world settles into a new rhythm. Here some links for some self care tips from our team:

The Mindful Minute – A guided meditation when you only have a minute

Beanbag Bonvoyage – A virtual journey all around the world

Propagation – 12 easy indoor plants

Shooting Stars

CONGRATULATIONS to the Misses M’s and their family who have gone from strength to strength with their literacy intervention. It is very hard work for our young people going back to square one with reading and spelling to build the strong foundation of phonological decoding and encoding that underpins good literacy (especially when you have always been talented comprehenders and memorisers of sight words.) One Miss M is seeing the gains reflected back in certificates of merit and our other Miss M has gone from refusing to write anything down to crafting brilliant stories of dragons and giant guinea pigs well after dinner has been called. We are so proud of them all.

Celebrations

Happy Birthday to you AP! While we may not have been in unison (or in tune!), we wanted to get together to sing happy birthday to one of our kiddos who turned the big ‘5’ recently. AP, you’re growing up so fast! Congratulations for everything you’ve achieved. You’ve come so far and we’ve loved watching you grow into the wonderful and curious little person you are. We promise never to sing to you again!

Wishing you a healthy and safe Term 3.   May you all fly high and reach the stars!
